Cannon VS. Nikon

Having a hard time choosing between brands for your first new DSLR I'm sure you have heard that one brand is better than the best. But what makes one more different than the other its simple its mainly just user preference. It also has to do with the knowledge that you may or may not have, now myself i own a Nikon for my personal work but use Cannon for work as a photographer for a studio. The thing with both is you have to want to learn the settings and lingo as far as knowing how to change your shutter speed and and your ISO sensitivity. Knowing how to switch those settings will help you when you have a change in lighting or going from indoors to outdoors. Once you can have those down it will be simple to work a DSLR better. But lets get more into detail about comparing and contrasting, most entry DSLR's all come with small LCD's some with a flip screen some without. This is nice when filming video or looking at your shot after you take a picture. Now with Nikon You really have to know how to adjust your shutter and ISO especially when taking pics. When in live view there is not much changing on your screen when your switching shutter speeds. You won't notice it until you take the picture if your not in the right settings your picture might come out too dark or too bright. Even though it looked like you had a good picture on your screen. This is because nikon does not have stimulated exposure in live view. This means when you change your shutter or iso you won't be able to tell the difference when you switch until you take a picture. Stimulated exposure does come with the cannon cameras all the way down to the entry levels almost making it "too easy" to take pictures. Reason being that anyone can become a photographer if they buy a cannon camera. Most Professionals say that Nikon gives you that challenge of having to know your camera. You still can get very great quality images on Nikon just know that you will have to change the settings without seeing it right away. Not all nikons are like this I know that the 5100 and up have stimulated exposure in live view, It is mainly with the entry level cameras. Cannon is better for entry level users especially if you do not know much about photography. I still recommend you read up on any camera that you buy before you get frustrated and just give up. Another big thing with Cannon is the variety of lenses they have available giving you more options for whatever you are shooting. Nikon has more set lenses as far as their prime selections using a 35mm 1.8G on the nikon gives you the opportunity to go from crop frame sensor to a full frame look it looks amazing in still photography. Nikon also offers a good video mode letting you switch frames and record really good camera audio. Its still recommended that you buy an external microphone to get great sound
